From the north west corner of the car park take the Mercer Bay walk way for about 1.5km to Ahu Ahu Track. Turn right onto Ahu Ahu Track for about 150m before turning right again onto Comans Track. This follows a steep ridge line all the way down to Karekare, about 2km. At Karekare cross over the one land bridge and turn right into the Pohutakawa Glade walk, about 200m in turn left up Zion Hill Track. Follow this up for about 1.5km, turning right at the fork and keeping on Zion Hill Track. At the next intersection turn right onto Buck Taylor and drop down onto Pararaha Valley Track, run left and follow this up to the Pararaha Campsite and then continue up Muir Track all the way to Gibbons rac. Take Gibbons Track all the way down into Whatipu. In Whatipu you take the steep Omanawanui Track up to the cones, following the ridge line along the Manukau Harbour for about 3km. The second time you come to Whatipu Rd you cross over and onto Puriri Ridge Track, stay on this for about 2km. Turn left onto McDonald Mclean Track for about 1.1km and then right onto Fletcher Track. Take Fletcher Track all the way down to Karamatura Track. Turn left onto Karamatura Track and enjoy the steep climb all the way to Karamatura Junction, about 3km. Turn right at the junction onto Huia Ridge Track, before turning left about 150m onto Walker Ridge. After 1km turn right onto Odlin Timber Track, continue for 3km up to Lone Kauri Rd. Immediately take Buck Taylor Track up to the Zion Ridge Track, take the Zion Ridge Track all the way back to Karekare, and then continue the same way back to the carpark. Up Comans Track and Mercer Bay Loop.

Start of trail is Mercer Bay Loop, from the carpark at the end of Log Race Rd. Log Race Rd is off the Te Ahu Ahu Rd which is a left off Piha Rd, just before you drop down into Piha. About 40min from the city.
Lots of parking in the car park. Toilet facility also (no water).
Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Windproof jacket, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map.
Water at Pararaha and Whatipu Camp's, but untreated roof water. I have never had an issue drinking it.
These tracks are pretty good. Odlin Timber Track can be slippery descending down to the streams.
