I agree with Kate - definitely not one to do solo. I was involved with the recent unsuccessful SAR operation and add the further notes. The route up thru the bush is not marked and in places there are several false trails leading to even more difficult terrain. It would pay to take a GPS and record your route up so that you can retrace on the way down and/or find your way back to the trail if you get off it. Also not advisable to attempt in the dark so summer months only for out and back in a day, or be prepared to stay put overnight if you get caught out.

You earn every one of those metres above sea level for this one! There's a campsite on the Footstool if you want to split this over two days but it is achievable in one.
DO NOT ATTEMPT unless you are a confident scrambler and comfortable with heights & exposure. Definitely not one to solo!
