Waingongoro Hut (900 m) is set on a cliff-side high above the Waingongoro Stream. Take care near the cliff edge – there is no barrier. Don't walk or camp on the helipad.
The highest swingbridge in Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki is just 5 minutes walk from the hut. The Waingongoro Swingbridge is 24 m above the Waingongoro Stream – not for the faint hearted! If you're walking in from East Egmont – you’ll pass over the bridge on the way to the hut.
If you're walking in from Dawson Falls, take you swimsuit and have a dip in the lava formed Wilkies Pools.
Heating, Mattresses, Toilets - non-flush, Water from tap - not treated, boil before use, Water supply
