The Mauao Peak Challenge

About the Challenge:

The Foundation Clinic Mauao Half Marathon is a community focused fun run/walk which traverses one of the Bay Of Plenty's most iconic natural attractions, Mauao (Mt Maunganui). It's also the inspiration for The Weetbix Challenge in our directory.

Whether a competitive off-road mountain goat runner or someone just looking for a challenge with breath-taking scenery, this event appeals to all. The course involves ascending and descending Mt Maunganui three times and three laps around the Mt Maunganui base track. The event can be completed individually or in a 3-person team (one accent/decent and once around base track each).

How the challenge works

Climb any peak from our peak directory and you'll be on the leaderboard. Every time you summit a peak, even if it's the same peak, you'll increase your chances of winning!

Bonus for locals: if you summit Mauao itself, you'll get three times the points on the leaderboard!

You will need to record your runs on Strava, and have your Wild Things account linked for your peak summits to be counted.

Challenge Prizes:

We have a free solo and a free team entry to give away.

Remember, these are drawn as spot prizes, so anyone can win (although being higher up the leaderboard does increase your chances!)
