Kaikōura Mountains to Sea

About the Challenge:

A joint fundraiser for Kaikoura High School and Kaikoura Lions Club, the Kaikōura Mountains to Sea Marathon on Saturday October 21st 2023 has an elevation gain of 392m, so for this Wild Challenge, any run, walk or hike you do with a maximum elevation gain of 392m will count!

A run with 393m of elevation gain? Nope, no challenge points sorry!

This could lead to an interestingly different leaderboard ?

You don't need to be on a trail from our Trail Directory; anywhere counts, and as this is a Number of Runs challenge, each time you get out there, the higher up the leaderboard you'll find yourself.

If you also take on the Kaikōura Mountains to Sea Marathon, they have quite a selection of prizes and possibly more to come... including a Gin Tour + complimentary bottle of gin at Mt Fyffe Distillery (featured on Country Calendar recently), free stays in Kaikoura accommodation, ski passes at Mt Lyford (between Hanmer and Kaikoura), a group pass for Hanmer Springs Pools, a Jet boating pass with Hanmer Attractions, vouchers for Further Faster, some stash from Shoe Clinic, vouchers for shopping in Kaikoura and two mounted photographic prints of Kaikoura. Plus, every finisher gets a medal!! ;)

Challenge Prizes:

We have an epic stash of prizes, worth $880!

• Everyone who has 30 or more points at the end of the challenge will go in a draw to win a team entry to the marathon relay.
• Everyone who has 20 - 29 points at the end of the challenge will go in a draw to win a free entry to either the marathon or half marathon.
• Everyone who has 1 - 19 points at the end of the challenge will go in a draw to win a free entry to the 10km.

We also have some epic spot prizes:

• Four 1/2 price entries to the marathon or half marathon.
• A $200 Shoe Clinic voucher.

These will be drawn randomly at the end of the challenge.

If you have already entered, but then win a free entry, you'll get your entry fee back!
