Protect Our Winters (POW) Aotearoa seeks to connect the outdoor community to take climate action. Protecting our winters is about much more than protecting snow. It’s about protecting our favourite trails from the threat of floods, coastal erosion or wildfires. It’s about protecting public and conservation lands from the threats of coal mining. It’s about getting the outdoor community involved in climate action, policy and legislation. POW is getting everyone who plays outside to protect our outdoor playgrounds from the impacts of climate change. If the trail running community joins together their voice can be very loud. POW will help to amplify this voice in asking for change.

This year POW is focusing on a public transport campaign, school speaking events, a finance campaign and will be hosting a POW Summer Summit in December.

Check out the US Chapter of the POW trail alliance and the great athletes they have involved in spreading the climate action message.
