Great run as it’s one of the only ones in the area that allows dogs.

Starting from the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre head along the cycle path towards the bird sanctuary. Once you reach the bird sanctuary head towards the carpark and cross the road into Ivon Wilson Park. Continue straight past the first intersection (go right for a great view of Lake Te Anau) take the next right and follow it along until you reach a metal gate. Look for the blue arrows and follow them on a warren of trails through the woodlands taking every left turn if there’s an option.

Then at the Fairy Glen head onto the green arrows, this time taking every right turn available, come to the caravan park road and look out for the wee den on your left and follow the red arrows until you reach the green arrows again. Follow these to the Ivon Wilson Park carpark and map, follow your nose to the lake edge for great views and a rest if you need it. Then hook back onto the gravel path which will take you back to the bird sanctuary, then trace your steps back to the visitors centre alongside the lake until you reach 10k or your car, whichever comes first!!

Easy.

This is a bit of a warren of tracks, following your nose and the gpx file will get you there!

Perfect throughout.

Short-sleeved thermal top, Windproof jacket, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map.

Tap available at Ivan Wilson car park, but probably only safe for dogs. Bring a bottle!

Could become muddy in heavy rain, but generally a dry track.

A few tree roots and windy paths, but nothing too gnarly!
